1997 Ford Contour latest problem

Been helping my boyfriend work on/ repair his 97 ford contour. The latest issue is that after replacement of the engine wire harness, that it will not fire. Also, on the back of the throttle body, there are 3 hoses. The is one that blows off when turning the engine over. The body hose I believe? What would make it blow off when trying to crank? Spark plugs have fire/ spark. We just finished alignment of the timing. The wiring harness obtained is of course through a junk yard because the part is obsolete. ( Which was recalled but ford doesnt honor it anymore) please! My main question is this hose blowing off? What could cause this? Thank you in advance!

Is it a vacuum hose that is blowing off? If so, is there a back fire?

I do believe it is. Out of the three that connects to the back of throttle body, there are two side by side on too and one on the bottom. It is the one on the bottom. It had back fired in the past while we were working on it. But not lately.

Is the vacuum hose just loose? There should be a vacuum from the intake to it which would hold it in place. I will say, I have seen backfireing cause hoses to come off.

When trying to turn the ignition, the engine tries to start but no fire. And when doing so the hose blows off. You can hear it. Like I said this is the latest of the issues he has had with his car. While lifting the engine, putting on the new timing belt, it may be possible something was knocked loose from the firewall to the back of the engine? All we know is we checked the spark plugs las night and they were good.
