1997 Ford Contour diagnosing

I'm not sure if its a no crank no start issue or if its a crank no start issue but I believe I'm having trouble with the starter not engaging with the flywheel please help I check my battery voltage I replaced spark plugs fuel pump is in working condition and still car is not starting a spinning or winding sound is what you hear when the key is in the ON position need help diagnosing this issue please help thank you

If the starter is operating but not fully engaging with the flywheel, then you have a starter problem but that may have also damaged the flywheel by now.

Thank you for your response I really do think that the flywheel is bad but don't think that the starter is defective I replaced old started with new starter and same thing happen so I really do believe is the flywheel

A bad starter will damage a flywheel and a bad flywheel will damage a starter. If you find a bad flywheel, you should automatically change both.
