vehicle has been idling intermittently of late, especially while cold. Big rains overnight and this morning it won't turn over. First time that happened. Worked okay last night.
Lots of power, tank is half full (gas). Diagnostic scan not working unfortunately (electrical fault somewhere). What can I check myself before having it towed to the shop? If I could rule out a few things I might be able to help myself a little.

sidenote - I have had to replace 2 coils in less than 3 years. Almost sounds like the same problem again.

To add a little more

the truck has been running rough of late and it almost appears like not all cylinders are firing and there is a shaking going on when it's cold.

Been reading a little about ignition coil issues. Could be the problem area. Also, i've been told I should replace the temperature sensor (due to the cold poor performance/warms up and seems to work better).
Appreciate any assistance you can provide.
