1997 Chevrolet Cavalier water pump

My car has been running hot for about four days; I replaced water pump thinking that was the issue, when I first crunk the car the water was shooting out the car with so much pressure ;next the car wont even crank anymore;do you have any idea wat the problem may be so I can get the proper help.

Where was the water shooting out?If it was shooting out while cranking with lots of force you could have a blown head gasket. Then the compression from the engine would be getting into the cooling system and pushing the coolant out.

Water was shooting from the resevior( where you put the coolant) with lots of pressure ;my grandfather is a mechanic and he said it was that a blown head gasket I just wanted another opinion? Thanks thou for your time

Sounds like a blown head gasket to me they have a block tester you can rent at auto zone to see if there is exhaust gases in your cooling system. The only thing I can see doing that is compression getting into the cooling system.
