CAR SITTING FOR A YEAR.

I have a car that hasn't been driven in over a year, I bought a new battery, the car started and drove fine for about 15 minutes. After that it slowed down drastically then stopped. There was clean oil in the car, but when we opened the hood and removed the oil strip it was smoking from that area. We then added more oil started the car, but it wouldn't stay on, I pressed on the gas a couple times it started shaking then died, white smoke came from under the engine. I was thinking it could be the head gasket, or because there was a half tank of gas that has been sitting in there for a year, that could be the issue as well?

It wasn't low at all. It was added because the smoke was coming from the oil dipstick area.
