I have 1997 Chey Blazer 6cyl 4dr automatic trans that won't start. I put the key in the ignition switch and turn the key to start the engine. The starter motor cranks but the engine go. The dashboard lights do not light up and cannot disengage the transmission selector out of park. The key when returned to the begin position will not release. Takes quite a bit wrestling with it and turning the switch back & forth to get a key release. Have change out fuel pump, fuel filter, complete starter motor assembly unit, plugs, wire set, and distributor last year. Change fuses to ENG-1, CRANK, ECM BATT, ECM IGN & GAUGES. Now I am wearing the battery down trying in numerous attempts to get the truck started.

Check to see if your car has a anti-theft device or chip in the key. It sounds like you have no power to the ecm. Check for power 12v at the coil pack when key is on. Also can you hear the fuel pump kick on when you turn the key on? With no dash lights you are not getting power to the ecm check for grounds. The other thing is your column switch. You should be able to get your key out without any problems.I would check the ingiction switch
