My reverse and back up lights will not turn off. They stay on even when the truck is turned off. I have to disconnect the battery so it does not drain it. I have no idea what is wrong. I do not think it is a fuse, but do wonder about the relay. I also do not know how to trouble shoot to figure out what is wrong. I am hoping it is something I can fix myself at a low cost.

The fuse if blown will make it so the lights do not go on, for the time being remove the fuse to the back up lights. When working on it replace the fuse and check the wiring from the shifter switch to see if there is any wire that is crossing shorting out with a wire that that has constant power.

The Turn B/U #16 fuse is fed from the ignition switch only when the key is on run or start, so if that fuse is hot with the key off or even with the key out, the ignition switch could be at fault. The airbag number ten fuse and the gauges number four fuse are also fed from the same pink wire from the ignition switch. So check if those fuses are also hot with key off and/or out.
If so, you may want to replace that ignition switch or look for a short to hot along that pink wire from the ignition switch to that I/P fuse block.
