Engine coolant

96 firebird, dex cool, tech mixed a different kind of coolant, jelled substance in radiator and thermostat, car is now overheating and was told had a blown headgasket, what happended?

I would recommend going back to the tech that put the wrong coolant it it. That is why it says Dexcool only. It gells and doesn't cool the engine. Plus, it corrodes everything that it touches. The only thing that can be mixed with dexcool is a universal GO-5.
