My 1998 firebird gets hot, but not all the time. It seems to heat up if driving very slowly, or while idleing. Mechanic kept it 3 days, couldn't find a reason. He replaced the belt tension because it was worn, new plugs and wires. For 2 days it didn't get hot at all, last night after a 20 min. Drive it started to heat up, (we were driving slowly in a residential area) if you take off and get on the open road it cools back down to normal. Help!

If it is electrical good luck, although the mechanic should have found it. Try to replace the thermostat. It may be tilting. Also make sure you air damn is in and not loose. These cars do not get lots of air in but mine stays under 170 at rest. Flush your radiator and check your fans
