We just bought a 89 dodge daytona and in first gear it doesnt want to go its an automatic so we cant start in 2nd but in first it just creeps along and revs the engine up real high how do we stop it?

Sounds like a trans failure. In first, you have front clutch and a sprag unit. If it does not pull, the clutches may nbe failing. It is internal and requires removal and overhaul.
Let a trans shop confirm and give you a bid.
