1995 Jetta doors locks don't work

Long story. Yesterday neither driver or passenger door would unlock on my 1995 Volkswagen Jetta. Locksmith opened. Now door latch on passenger side is stuck in the closed position so door won't shut. Husband disconnected the battery and when he reconnected the alarm went off. He disabled the alarm but the doors still will not unlock or lock. Includes the gas tank. And the door still won't shut. Help!

Some makes and models, that door latch gets into the closed position and will bounce off the door stud, you might be able to use a screwdriver to move the latch to open position. Then it may shut, but if doors are still locking, you end up right back where you were.
