My car makes a loud rough squeak right after the engine has turned over and running.

It starts right after it turns over and makes the noise for about 5 to 8 seconds.

Check alternator belt for loose/worn out. Alternator load is high right after start.

Is it possible for the belt to be to tight because I just finished working on my car about 2 days ago and the alternator was the last part I put in.

The sound is more like a squealing noise not so much a squeak.

Open the hood and have someone start the engine while you listen to the area the sound is coming from. If it is from the belt area, inspect the belt and the belt tensioner. With the belt off, make sure all the idler pulleys spin freely. Always use a factory belt when replacing it. If the sound is coming from the starter it may be the starter bendix not releasing from the flywheel.

Never put your hands inside the engine compartment when the engine is running.
