The engine is relatively new, about 10,000 miles, but the rest of the car has about 90,000 miles. So, the problem is, whenever I drive the car for about an hour or two, the car simply dies and stops running. I can give it gas and get it to go again, but then the same thing happens. I have taken it to diagnostics several times, but they have found nothing wrong. I have spent about $500 dollars for mechanics to 'repair' the problem, but with no luck. The car runs fine until it has been about an hour or so then it simply dies and won't go anymore. What do you think the problem is? Thank you in advanced.

If it sputters and dies gradually over a period of a few seconds, not instantly like a switch was flipped, a commonly overlooked cause is a collapsing screen on the pickup tube in the gas tank. One of the common symptoms, when the fuel pressure regulator is on the fuel rail on the engine, is the engine will run okay at highway speeds, and will tend to stall when the largest volume of fuel is being pumped which is during coasting.

The screen will stretch out after about five or ten minutes, but the problem will occur again much sooner than the first time. The fuel supply system is not monitored by the Engine Computer so it won't set a fault code or turn on the Check Engine light for related problems.
