My son has a 95 mustang GT with a fresh 5.0 in it. It has about 4000 miles on the motor. All the ignition system has been renewed. It has just started having an issue within the ignition system. It has died 2 times going down the road and at times it will not start for him. Now here's the kicker. He can jump the negative side of the coil to ground and it will start and run great (when it starts, he removes the jumper wire )

It does not have any spark when it has the no start or dying problem, but while running it has a nice blue spark. Think the hall effect switch in the distributor is acting up at times?

Yes that could be fault if Hall does not send RPM and postion the PCM will not know whe n to ground. The ground you provide gets it started then Hall PIP signal takes over.
