I was on my way home had my car in drive. All of a sudden the car just stops mid-road. I tried giving the car gas however it would not move in drive so I put it in over drive. The car then moved forward however at this point there is smoke rolling out from under my hood. I pull over and lift the hood to the what is smoking. On the left front corner of my vehicle is where the smoke was coming from. Now I literally have no idea even what I'm looking at other then the engine. But I notice that this belt is snapped and the smoke is coming from under it. So I research and realize I need a new serpentine belt, but I also need a AC bypass pulley compressor. Upon looking for the part I need I realize that there is a bypass pulley, a compressor, a compressor with other things. WHAT DO I NEED? Mind you my heat/air hove never worked since I bought the car.

It sounds like the AC compressor froze up, probably due to lack of lubricant. It also sounds like you have a transmission that has bad. Once you have the serpentine belt issue resolved, check the fluid level in the transmission.

The first belt I bought was too big and so was the second one. I had a friend look at it and he said I wouldnt even need the AC compressor unless I actually wanted AC, which I dont. So he told me just to get a belt tensioner.

Yes. You can do that. You'd basically be replacing the air conditioning compressor/pulley with a tensioner.

Awesome thanks alot! Also we are doing my front breaks and they are not coming off. I cannot get the wrench around the studs holding the caliber together. Is there another way to get the those out?

With my 99 Escort that was a 13 mm bolt. Spray it with WD-40.

The head on the bolt is actually rung off. The wrench wont stay on it.

Ahhh. You will either need to chisel it out by holding the chisel against the bolt head at an angle so as to force it to turn and loosen. Or, there is a special tool made for this.
