'95 Ford Escort LX-losing power while driving and shutting off

Just bought a '95 Ford Escort LX-while driving the car will start losing speed and just cut off. Will turn right back on though. What is causing this problem? Thanks Adriane-GR

Start by checking the exhaust system for clogging-let me know
