How do I get the battery cable disconnected from the back of the engine?

I really need to replace this cord because the ground wire is nearly broken all the way through, and both sides are corroded. I looked in my repair manual, and I have checked other places online, and cannot figure out how to get this thing off. I disconnected both battery connectors, I have disconnected the ground screw on the edge of the car wall, and I have taken the cord off the engine block, The cord has an insulation cover, that I pushed down as far as I could, And there is no apparent way to disconnect it from the car. It connects somewhere in the back of the engine, Not enough room to get any tools or see what is going on. Please help me.

It's either a 9/16 or 5/8 bolt. You need to use a wrench. You may actually need a socket and extension on a ratchet. If it is "stubborn" use WD-40. The image I have attached shows all of the vehicle grounds. The main engine ground is #36.

That is wrong
The bolts are metric and there is no room to get an extension in there The bolt is holding a bracket that crimps both positive and negative cables together so you have to remove the bracket to take either cable off There is no easy way to get to the bolt What I dis was to remove the evaporator box for after reasons but after that it's an easy excess to the bolt Might be easier if you just splice into the existing harness if you just need the battery end

9/16 = 14mm
5/8=15mm
100% interchangeable.
Usually the ground connected at the rear of the engine is a braided cable. Is this the one you're talking about 1995crownvic?
