1995 Chevrolet Suburban Rattling sound.

When I accelerate in reverse, my vehicle rattles from the rear. Like I'm on the break paddle and I'm forcing to move with my foot on the gas paddle. Sort of like the brake drums is lock. It moves slowly when my feet is off the paddle but when I accelerate in reverse its like I got to add more power and that's when the rattle occurs. Can you please help me I don't know nothing about this. I'm a single mother of 3 and this is my and my kids only meens of transportation. Please I do want to get this fix soon and don't want to be stuck in the cold snow with my kids. Thank you and godbless.

This is something that should be checked by a mechanic to insure there's no safety issue involved. Some chain stores like Sears used to offer free or low-cost brake system inspections. The cause could be as simple as a partially-sticking parking brake cable. That will cause rapid wear of the brake linings on that wheel.

Given the age of the vehicle, a brake shoe return spring could have rusted apart. That is about as inexpensive a repair as you're going to find, but usually by the time that happens, it's time for new brakes too.

There are a number of other possible causes of brake system noises, and some are just annoying while some are warnings of an impending failure.
