1994 Pontiac Grand Am on board diagnosis

I have a obd1&2 reader but when I plug into my computer plug it shows not reading.
My engine died like someone shut off fuel.
can get it cranked but rough and smokes.
white smoke. No water shows in oil.
water resovoir is not low.
am at a loss for what to do next.

You can't read codes on that car with either of those tools. You need a professional scan tool because that is a hybrid of both systems.

You are getting coolant into the combustion chamber somehow, most likely a blown head gasket.
