1994 Mazda 626 no power in first gear

I have a mazda that had a engine put in it with 60,000 miles and a new clutch. It was running great very quiet engine. For the past couple of days it has not very much power when in first gear pulling away from a stopped position. It does not do it all the time just once in awhile. Nothing else seems to be going on if you could give me some idea on what it might be that would be great thanks

A power loss can come from many things. Since it is a low mileage engine, I would start by checking to see if the catalytic converter may be starting to plug, check to make sure fuel pump pressure is within the manufacturer's specs, make sure the air filter isn't plugging.

If the check engine light is on, you should have the computer scanned to determine what set the light.
