Sounds like a problem with the hydraulic portion of the clutch. They develop leaks and when they run low on fluid, the suck air into the system.

No, but it may not be a brake line. It might be the clutch line. They use the same fluid.

You replace whatever is leaking. You don't know what it is yet.
