1994 GMC C1500 truck has problem accelerating

My truck idles fine. Then when you put it in drive it will run fine for a couple of minutes. Then it will start stumbling and backfiring when you give it a lot of gas. It will run but only with you pushing on and off the accelerator over and over again. It will only go about 20 to 30 mph that way. If you turn the truck off and back on it will do the same thing all over again. I've change the fuel filter and it ran better for a few hours then started doing the same thing again. Thanks for any help

Check fuel pressure with a gauge, if tbi 9-11psi then check for a blown gasket under tbi unit as they do that as well as hose leading ot map sensor gets soft and sucks together. Scan for codes if check engine light on
