1994 Buick Century wagon mileage: 86,000. Power window (left front) works partially (4 inches or so) then needs a rest of 4-5 minutes before it will work again (for an inch or two). With patience it will open or close a little at a time with repeated waits (rests). What is the repair strategy?

Check 12-volt power to the window motor when the windows will not work. You may be having problems with the motor drawing too many amps and kicking out a circuit breaker. If this is the case, you will have to replace the window motor.
