Engine flush

I recently had engine flushed out of my 1993 Saturn SL2 because an unknown substance was put in my engine by mistake-after doin it I was told that I should have never done it especially since car is an older model and that I am in for it now and to expect stuff to start going wrong with my car. Is there any truth to this or is my baby's father just trying to be a know it all as uaual?

Lol-is there any type of engine knocking noises, oil gauge not acting weird and engine performance up to par if none-no need to worry keep driving it till you break it and have him buy you a new ride for your baby's sake-
