My car is a 93 saturn sl, twin cam, sometimes when I go to crank my car up, I have to give it a little gas to start, and just recently whenever I put it in reverse or drive, it dies on me, what could possibly cause this if I know its not the battery

The first thing I would check is the coolant temp sensor on your car it's the bottom sensor with two wire's going to it right below where the upper radiator hose goes on the head. Also inspect the connector going to it if it's corroded replace the connector. The sensor is only 10. Let me know what you find.
