Transmisson on a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am

I have a 1993 pontiac grand am with a automatic transmission. This all happened real quick like, within days. It seemed to have a hard time going into gear when I backed out of my driveway then again when trying to put into drive. I messed with the shifter then it engaged and was fine for one day then it wouldn't go into gear. Any gear and hasn't moved since. Fluid is normal filter needs change and so does the fluid but no metal or other fluid is in the tranny fluid. What could be wrong with it?

Check to make sure the linkage is attached and properly working. Also, if the check engine light is on, have the computer scanned to identify if there are any trans trouble codes.
