Check engine light comes on and car does not Move

Hi,
Sometimes in the morning when I start the car, check engine light comes on and car does not move when I put it in Drive. Check engine light comes on during the day also and same sympotym. Any ideas? About two months ago, I tuned the car and changed the air and fuel filter and igniation colis.

Have the computer scanned for trouble codes. If the light is on, it will point us in the right direction. Most parts stores will do it for free.

Thanks for quick reply. This car is pre OBD year and does not have OBD1 or OBD2. How can I read the codes and where the plug is?
