Good day, I have a cadilac seville. I used it since 1993 and I drive it very often and it was very good, but today, the air condition suddenly stopped. When I am pressing the AUTO button, the ECON option is the one appearing on the screen and no air is coming out. I don't know why does it happened when I pressed the auto button which it is the option used to make the temperature cold suddenly it shift to ECON. Kindly help me with my inquiry because I took it to many auto shops, they don't know how to fix it, they change some parts of it, but still no air is coming out. It will be a pleasure on my part if I can hear something from you. Thank you.

If it is defaulting to econ, it is more than likely a result of low refrigerant, or a false indication of such. You should see the codes display on the fuel data center, in the form of E. Codes for powertrain, and F. For body codes, current faults will be E.E or F.F respectively. If you show an F47 or F48, that is a low or very low refrigerant fault. By false indication, there could be a faulty pressur sensor causing this concern, but don't assume that until the state of charge is determined. The reason it defaults to ECON, is for compressor protection, since the lubricant for the compressor travels in the refrigerant. If there is no refrigerant, the compressor would in theory, get no lubrication, and run dry causing potential for failure.
