Heat or a/c flow through the vents is very intermittent at best in my '92 Ford Aerostar. Also the fan operates only intermittently. The AC compressor and dryer has recently been replaced and charged. The temperature guage shows normal temps (no thermostat problem). Something seems to be wrong with either the airflow baffles/doors inside the dash, and/or with the fan switch. Does the fan switch affect the actually airflow inside the duct work? What is(are) the likely cause(es)? How do I get the dash apart to get to the problem parts?

It sounds like the fan motor isn't running all the time. When it doesn't work, check to see if it is getting power. The motor may be going bad. As far as the air flow direction, the vent doors are actuated by vacuum. Check for leaks if air flow direction is the issue. The vacuum lines are under the dash.
