Hi, we are a Corvette shop in Georgia. We are working on a 1992 base model LT1 VIN code P. It was having overheating issues so we replaced the water pump, Be Cool radiator, 160 thermostat, new MSD opti (why not? Lol), took out both knock sensors and flushed the block, burped and bled it out and still overheating. Did compression check to ensure no blown head gasket, all cylinders between 180-185 PSI and also did a coolant test for exhaust and it was good. Hoses are good and not collapsing. What am I missing?

Hi,

Is it overheating while at highway speeds as well? Are there any cooling fan concerns? When it overheats, is it boiling over or just indicated on the dash? I don't like asking certain questions because you specialize in these vehicles, but as you feel, this is a tough one to answer. Is the radiator holding pressure (cap)? Has ignition timing been checked?

I've seen the propeller spin freely on the prop shaft in the pump, but you replaced it already. Are you getting circulation when the thermostat opens? Also, before it overheats, does the engine run normally?

Let me know.

Joe
