I am driving a 1992 Buick Century. I recently got stuck in the snow and when I got out my car was overheating. I parked it and the next day when I left there was what I believed to be transmission fluid on the ground for it was red. On my way into town the temperature light and Check Engine Soon light kept coming on. I would just like to know whats wrong with it.

The transaxle may be toast? Check the tranny fluid, find the leak. I wouldn't drive it till you fix the problem. Let a tranny shop look at it. The tranny can hurt the engine.

A transaxle can go for 1K, that doesn't include labor. If there is engine damage, it will cost more. You have to determine if it cost more to fix than the vehicle is worth? Talk to a local tranny shop, call them on the phone, ask them for a ball-park estimate. It don't cost anything to talk to them.

In the past, I've seen rebuilt trannys, labor and all, replaced for 700 bucks. That was years ago, I'm retired now.
