I am confused about how to get the starter off. The bolt towards the front of the engine too close to the engine case. How do you get it off without taking off the transmission pan? I need to replace the starter. The car has been sitting up for a while. I checked the engine to see if it had locked up. I turned the engine to verify that ti is free to move. I assumed that the is locked up since it won't turn. Please! Advise?

Check battery for condition including load test auto parts does for free. If starter I sbad try to start with and assistant and hit body of starter with hammer if it starts the starter is bad. You may need an extension to get to the bolt for removal.
