This motor has about 60k on it. It has new glow plugs. It is getting fuel to the fuel filter. (Oh it does run but can be piggy to start after it is ran) When you go to restart the engine it tends to need the pedal pushed to the floor. Also it seems to be tossing out blue smoke when sitting at an idle. Have any ideas of what to look at or try.

Thanks

The truck seems to run good once started but like I said above it tends to put out blue smoke at idle. Seems to have good power. Glow plugs and controller are all working. Injectors have all been tested and cleaned.

It sounds like a pump issue. They had issues with the governor ring inside the pump. Did many of these and usually is caused by fuel contamination. Have it confirmed by a truck shop. Make sure you drop the tank and have it flushed out if it is the failure.

What kind of contamination would I be looking for. The pump that is on this motor sat for 18 months. Would that or could that be the issue that I just need to get pump rebuilt?

You wont see the contamination as the particles are beyond our sight. Get the number off the pump and I would get a re man unit.

Make sure you flush the system.

You may also want to check for air leaks in the system. And drain your water seperator/change fuel filter
