91 Ford Ranger alternator

If I have a dead battery in, the alternator works fine. If not the engine pulls hard. What should I do?
Alternator has been checked and is fine.

Was the alternator tested on the vehicle? Battery tested ok?

If you have a battery drain with everything turned off, pull/replace fuses, one at a time, when you pull the fuse on the problem circuit, the drain should return to normal, if the problem circuit is fused.
