I had a new power steering gear box replaced on my van. I tryed to turn the steering but it is a little hard to turn. I took it back the next day and the owner said that because it is new it will work itself back to normal. Is that possible or what do I need to do now.

I'M NOT BUYING THAT EITHER

I'D SAY

IT'S A DEFECTIVE GEAR

SOMETHING ELSE IS BINDING IT

OR SOMEONE HAS CRANKED IN THE PLAY ADJUSTMENT SCREW WAY TOO MUCH!(WHICH IS SORTA "SET" ONLY INITIALLY, BY SOMEONE WHO KNOWS EXACTLY HOW, MOST PEOPLE LEAVE THE FACTORY SETTING AS IS.)

AFTER THE GEAR HAS WEAR (MAINLY IN THE MIDDLE FROM "DRIVING KINDA STRAIGHT", MOST OF THE TIME). THE ADJUSTMENT SHOULD NOT BE BOTHERED EVER AGAIN. SOMETIMES THOSE "KNOW IT ALL" PEOPLE TAKE OUT THE SLOP IN THE MIDDLE OUT, THEN THE BARELY WORN "LEFT AND RIGHT" TEETH (TURNS), BIND UP AND IT LOCKS UP OR IS INCREDIBLY HARD TO TURN, EITHER WAY, IT'S A DANGEROUS SITUATION

Is it possible to drive it for a day or so. I notice it has loosened up a little.
