Why is my transmission slipping on warm days and on cold days it doesnt want to go into gear

My 1990 dodge dakota slips from first to second gear, and when its about 45 degrees and below that outside I have to take my automatic transmission from park to reverse to drive until the transmission warms up never had many problems with this truck except ecm 2 years ago with charging and out of the 21 years never had any problems so whats wrong with my transmission

Sounds like an internal issue with pressure. How long has it been since you changed the oil in the trans?

Its been a few years it was my dads so servicing was done often how ever when I bought it off of him I never changes the granny fluid I just checked the fluid it looks brown burnt so should I change the fluid and filter

You can try but I think the damage is done. Get a trans shop to verify.
