Cooling system

Just bought car and the water pump was supposedly replcaed it doesnt leak but does over heat the radiator and thermostat housing both have bleed screws it is a 90 bmw 525i just wondering if the system has to be bleed if so how do you bleed it the repair manual offers nothing

The M20 motor has a bleeder screw on top of the T-stat housing, open it when filling the system and when coolant runs out without any air bubbles, close it. The vent on top of the expansion tank should be done the same way, after the air is out of the motor.
