Check engine light on

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.

Have had codes scanned recently. Getting 'Quad module' code, but car running well. ALL the dash lights are flashing when brake pedal is depressed and the engine dies. It is my sons car and he is at school so I am trying to help him long distance.

To 2carpros. Car has been running very well. This problem of the car dying when the brake pedal pushed just started. Brake pedal is pushed and the dash lights flash and then the engine dies. Is this the brake light switch?

QDM

DTC 26 will set if:
†The system is running in "CLOSED LOOP."
†Brake switch is closed (brake not applied).
†Transaxle in mid or high gear.
†The ECM detects an improper voltage level on a QDM "A" controlled circuit for 10 seconds.
The ECM does not know which controlled circuit caused DTC 26, so each and every QDM circuit has to be tested to see which one caused the code to set.

Thanks for the Quad module answer but that does not help me with problem at hand. Car running fine, he applies the brake pedal and ALL the dash lights flash and the engine dies. He can get it started again but the problem re-occurs next time pedal is pushed. Problem just started and making the car pretty much inoperable. Thanks for your attention

Brake switch is closed (brake not applied). The only time the brake switch will closed is when you apply the brakes

Have him inspect and test the brake switch
