Got a 1998 dodge stratus with a 2.5l v6.
Car starts fine and idles fine.
When you drive about 10 to 15 miles the lights go from real bright to normal bright, the cruise light comes on thou I didn't turn the cruise on, the shift indicator starts flashing throw all the gears on the dash thou I've stayed in drive and then the engine dies.
When you wait about 5 minutes, the car will start again and the whole thing starts up after driving further. Any ideas
Thanks

Does the problem repeat after each time it shuts down and you wait, then start it again?

Is there a volt meter on the dash? When you say the lights are real bright, are you saying that they are a lot brighter than when the car was operating normally?

A bad voltage regulator can cause the computer to do wacky things because too much electric is being shot through the cars electrical systems.

Have any fuses blown recently?

I'd make sure the battery has a full charge, then check the charging system. You can do testing under the hood, with a digital multimeter. Some of the national brand autostores will check the battery and charging system.
