My heater stays on defrost and will not go to floor or panel when I move the switch to those positions

Check your actuators one is for heat and the other for moving air around. They areprobably vacuum operated and are not getting vacuum orthe vacuum motor is shot. It could be a control issue as well just pull the line of and put to antoher area and see if it gets vacuum. If it does you'll need a new vacuum motor or the door is stuck
