Why wont my car start

My car hasnt started for like a month now well I try to start is and it makes this weird grinding noise but wont start so I try again and it makes no noise when I turn the key nothing happens can you help me thanks I think it might be the alternator but jave no idea

No to the alternator. If it is a grind noise, it sounds like either the starter isn't fully engaging with the flywheel meaning the starter is bad, or the flywheel has some teeth out of it. You will need to check that when you remove the starter.
