85 GMC starting problem

1985 gmc sierra 1500 intermittent starting. Getting nothing when turning key then all of a sudden starts. Did this for several days and then quit altogether.

Could be an issue with ignition switch? I'd have to be sure the battery has a full charge and connections are clean and tight. Then I'd have to check circuits at the starter. Any testing at the starter, make sure the tranny is in park or neutral and the e-brake is set.
