1984 cadillac deville power window rolls down about 2 inches then makes this stripping noise. And wont go any further

Sounds like it has a problem wih the regulator drive. The early styles had a cogged/perforated plastic ribbon that drove the glass. It either needs a regulator, or the regulator repaired.

U can just replace the tape and the motor my be bad internaly. This stripped tape problem was from the regulator breaking. You can get the block and the tape or front and rear window clips are replaceable.
