My El Camino ran fine this morning. I started it and drove approximately a block to lunch. After lunch, it started, then stalled while idling. It would not start again. I am getting fuel and it is turning over fine, just will not start. In my very un-expert opinion, it seems like it may be the HEI.

It could be the coil/rotor contact in the distributor cap or it could be the pickup wires worn out from the vacuum advance. The DIY section may cover how to check your system. You'll have to look it up undertune up.

To add on ( the pick-up coil and the ignition control module ). Make sure you have power to the coil
