What would make the van not start after getting to a warm temp. Starts when cold

Your starter draws more amps when hot. Start by making sure the main engine to chassis ground is tight and clean and the ground to the starter as well. Sometimes the starter will ground against the motor where its mounted. Take the starter off and and make sure its got a shiny surface to mount to. If the starter smells burnt its time for a new starter
