I have a 1975 Chevrolet Corvette. There is a couple inches of play in the steering wheel. In other words to turn left or right you have to move an inch or to either way before it steers.
Would a new steering gear box solve this problem and is there other things that may cause it or cure it.

Hi there, the first thing to do is check for any slop in the steering components, this is best left to a qualified mechanic to check, get this check and report done first.
