1974 Nova engine died wile driving and won't start now.

I have a 1974 nova with a rebuilt 1989 454, .40 over on bore took it for a ride got down street turned around started coming back and herd a I think a poof or a pop, and engine died, now it won't start. Cranks over but no start. What could the problem be?

How far down the street did you make it? Also, did you run this before you drove? (Set timing, top off coolant, etc) did you convert from a mechanical fuel pump to an electric? Need the details on your build in order to help. Whats compression? Distributor/coil setup. Have you check for fuel, and spark since it died? What do you have for advance? Vacuum, mechanical?
