I have a 1968 Ford F100 Ranger with a 289 engine. The original was a 360. The problem that I have is that when I let off the gas at 35 mph or less the truck feels like it is lurching. Kind of like the rear end is trying to catch up with the engine or the engine is trying to catch up the the rear end. What could be the problem and solution?

Kinda a "different" description!

Do you think this is an engine problem or something like slop in the drive-train, like bad "U" joints?

The replacement engine has a carb?

Is the description of your vehicle correct, at the top of the page?

Is this a new problem?

When did it start?

What has been done to the vehicle, prior to this issue?

Are you mechanical on your end?

I will attempt to assist you, others may help out. The more detail the better
