My van listed above Touring model, the DVD is reading a disc read error. It flashing 3 lights on the left then 3 on the right. From what I have read is that when then total voltage get to 0 the van should have a safety kick on before that happens, but that often fails. So my question is, being 2020 is there a way to reset the DVD player or "flash it" so it plays disc again? Thank you

Disc read error is usually caused by a mechanical failure in the drive itself not a software error. Commonly either the laser or drive motor. If you can hear it spin up it's the laser, if it doesn't spin it's the motor. Either one requires replacing or removing it and sending it for repair. It is removed by removing the center trim panel. There is a trim piece with two screws under it at the bottom. Remove the screws and gently pry the panel free with a trim stick. It is held by clips. Remove the DVD screws and the drive and disconnect it. Reverse to install it.
As for the battery protector, It is supposed to shut off the power if it detects a draw larger than "normal" with the vehicle shut down. However it depends on what is causing the power draw as some circuits are not monitored.
