: evil: I have a 1996 mercury grand marquis and the turn signals dont work neither do the hazards or brake lights (except the middle window brake light works) I have been told it might be lighting control processor. Okay where is that exactly since none of my books say nothing about it
Sounds to me like your multi-funtion switch is bad. This is the switch in the column that works the turn signals. The rear brake lights are feed thru this switch, but the upper light is not. Doesnt sound too hard to change. Here are the instructions.
Disable airbag system.
Tilt column to lowest position and remove tilt lever, if equipped.
Remove ignition lock cylinder.
Remove shroud screws, then remove upper and lower shrouds.
Remove two screws attaching multi-function switch to steering column casting. Disengage switch from casting.
Disconnect two electrical connectors.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following: Torque retaining screws to 18-26 in lb.
Activate airbag system.
